John first entered into a trial class at Driftwood Martial Arts back in the summer of 2003 and couldn’t resist the urge to further his understanding of Goju-Ryu Karate Do. After close to five years of consistent training, John earned his1st degree black belt in July of 2008.

In addition to regular training under Renshi Rice, seminars are of special interest to him and he looks for ways to use the knowledge gained to better his own understanding of Martial Arts. He believes strongly about core values such as integrity and honesty.

When teaching, John often incorporates valuable life experiences into the class lesson and enjoys seeing younger students progress towards their goals. Helping others obtain their goals and accomplish more than they thought possible are of high importance to John.

When not training at the dojo, John is a happily married father of two. He works in the Greater Toronto Area as a Field Applications Engineer.
